Baked Tofu Fries

Craving something salty?  These tofu fries fit the bill.  Even if you eat meat like myself these fries are an awesome snack option, and because they are made with tofu they offer a great source of protein.

These fries can be enjoyed on own as a snack or as a side, though I prefer these as a snack because they are so flavorful.  I season these fries with a blend of spices (including tumeric, super good for you!) and bake them in the oven.  The result is a crisp snack that barely tastes life tofu.

Sometimes soy gets a bad rep and from my readings it seems like this is because a lot of soy is genetically modified (GMO).  Check your food labels and make sure your tofu is organic and non-GMO and you should be good. 🙂

Baked Tofu Fries:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 block extra firm organic tofu
  • Organic extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp white ground pepper
  • 3 dashes paprika
  • 3 dashes ground cumin
  • dash of turmeric
  • pinch of cayenne

Directions:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.

  2. Slice tofu into fry sized pieces (see video).

  3. Brush baking sheet with olive oil and transfer fries to sheet, evenly spaced.

  4. Lightly brush fries with olive oil.

  5. Mixed together all spices in a small bowl and sprinkle evenly over fries.

  6. Bake until crisp.  Start out at 20 minutes then add additional time as necessary, checking on the fries every 5 minutes after the 20 minute mark.  The total baking time may take up to 35 minutes.

  7. Enjoy on own or with a dipping sauce of your choice.
